Our Environment - Green Tourism

We recognise the fact that the nature of our services results in an overall impact on the environment and that by conducting our business in a responsible and thoughtful manner; we can reduce this impact and act to improve the quality of the environment where appropriate.

We currently holders of the Gold Award level of the Green Failte, as well as being awarded the Best Cork City Green Hotel, an environmental award scheme which has helped businesses across Ireland lessen their impact on the environment. We have been steadily working towards this level, having been awarded the Bronze and Silver awards for the past two years..

Some of the measures which we take in the hotel include:

• Recycling as much glass, plastic, paper, cardboard and cans as possible, including all the newspapers left behind in the bedrooms.
• We segregate organic waste from our kitchens, and send this to be composted.
• Fitting all the standard lamps in the bedrooms and many more lights throughout the hotel with low energy bulbs to reduce our energy consumption.
• Water saving devices are fitted in the toilet cisterns and urinals which help to save water in our hotel.
• We have introduced a towel re-use program at the discretion of the guests to reduce detergent and water usage.
